An interactive river tour

RiverVenture is the story of South Carolina’s cultural and natural landscape as told by its rivers. RiverVenture will take you on a virtual “float-trip” across South Carolina, following the Saluda, the Congaree, the Santee and the Cooper rivers.

I created RiverVenture in Flash to allow the experience to be seamless and continuous, as if you were floating down the river, discovering interesting items along the way. Clues, photos and additional information are hidden throughout the panoramas to encourage you to explore the landscape.

I was responsible for designing the interface and all of the ActionScript coding for the project. I worked closely with artist Joseph Byrne, who painted the beautiful panoramic scenes and pop-up items. Two tours, “The Three Rivers” and “The Estuary” are available now, and a third river panorama is scheduled to be added to the project early 2009.
